I dunno what the consensus is but…
Cas was treated with actual importance in this episode and I am living for every second of it.
We deserved all those Cas scenes and we’ve deserved them for a long time, his mentioning of Jimmy, his moments with Jack.. I’m just thrilled that there was SO MUCH TIME devoted to Cas’ story in this episode.
Cas’ feelings.
Cas’ emotions.
Misha deserves the screen-time, and Cas deserves to tell his story, to share it, to express it, and to hopefully overcome some of his trauma.
Agreed. I was disappointed after episode one because of the way he was tossed around and treated as if he were not even an angel perfectly capable of taking on maybe a dozen demons (he’s handled way worse), but this episode really turned things around; we got to see a Cas who is both strong and emotional, willing to share and connect.
After all that Cas has been through, he has rarely ever talked about it on screen. I mean, he was homeless, graceless, possessed by Lucifer, insane, not to mention suicidal at points in the show, but he never really talked about any of it, which to me is an issue of bad writing rather than trying to make him seem ‘strong.’
But here, they have redeemed themselves. Cas had emotions, and he was not perfect, but he was trying, and he was honest, and that is what I have been waiting to see from this show for years.
